...beavers

Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between seven years and six months and eight years six months.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.

Some Beaver Scout Colonies also organise Sleepovers. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home. They take place in suitable buildings, often Scout centres.

Our annual County Beaver event EGGSTRAVIGANZA was welcomed back after 6 years with eggcitment...

Over 200 Beavers arrived at Youlbury to enjoy eggciting activities and earned themselves an Easter egg from the Easter Bunny who may have been spotted bounding around the site.  The Opening Ceremony was started with an enormous beaver shout from the beavers and leaders, with parents joining in too.  Beavers enjoyed egg hunts, took part in loads of crafty Easter activities, toasted bunnies and eggs on the fire (not real ones of course!) had fun going on lots of trails in the forest, fired water rockets, heard fantastic stories in the tepee with our very own Shrek, and several visited the fabulous collection in the Scouting Museum.  All Beavers were able to achieve their Faith Activity Badge in the Chapel, which proved very popular.  The event was finished off with a few songs and then an eggnormous egg throwing competition with over 300 people taking part.
Well done to all the Beaver leaders for attending with their colonies this year. A special thanks must go to the great hard working County team for making it an great event for all our Beavers around Oxfordshire.
I hope to see you all next year to join in the fun.
