Event Fairies

This amazing team helps transforms an empty field to a Scout village for an event! From ensuring there is clean water across the site, marquees are pitched, power is supplied, kitchens are set up to just ensuring the kit arrives in the right place at the right time, or cars are parked appropriately – there is something for everyone in the team. We are looking for electricians, tent pitchers, people to tow trailers, set up tents, marquees, lay out chairs and tables… the list goes on. From being able to attend throughout an event to problem solve to a few hours to help set up or strike down camp every hour helps towards this team helping to make Scout events happen.

OxChefs

This amazing team helps to feed our volunteers across an event giving them the strength and energy to ensure young people are having an amazing time! They cover every mealtime from breakfast to supper and snacks for volunteers in between – we couldn’t be without them. Whether you can help across a whole day or for a few hours to help prepare for a meal your help would be appreciated by the team and every volunteer on site. There are a range of skills needed from preparing food, cooking food, keeping the urns topped up for tea and coffee throughout (especially on a winters event!) and cleaning the pans afterwards!

Event First Aid Team

This is the team we aim to use the least at an event but is vital to allowing them to take place. The team provides vital first aid care to those attending activities and ensure that the correct Scout policies are followed for any incidents where they are needed. The volunteers in this team are highly skilled often with a high-level of first aid certificate to enable first aid provisions over and above that of our volunteer team in an emergency.

Aqua camp is Scout camp which sees over 350 Scouts take to the water to participate in activities including dragon boating, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing. Across the weekend Scouts can gain time on the water across multiple activities as well as earn the theory elements of the Nautical Skills activity badge.

Across the weekend, we need volunteers to help organise the bookings and administration of the event, help get kayaks, canoes and young people on and off water activities, provide safety support during activities, helping to get equipment to and from the site as well as running land based activities including teaching young people knots and the safety aspects of being on the water.

Awards Day

Every year in May we hold an annual event at Youlbury Scout Activity Centre to celebrate the achievements of our top award holders. The day sees a presentation for every young person that gained a top award together with the chance to take part in the Youlbury site activities and activities run by the County team.

Across the day, we need volunteers to help check people in for the day, support young people and their families on where to find activities on site, run activities such as back woods cooking, knot tying and craft activities, and help young people on and off stage for the presentations.
